INanjing Jiangbei New Area is the only state-level new district in Jiangsu Province. It aims to build three zones and one platform: an area leading in independent innovation, a demonstration area for new type urbanization, a cluster of modern industries in the Yantze River Delta, and a major platform for opening up and cooperation in the Yantze River Economic Belt.

It focuses on the development of fourteen strategic emerging industries in seven categories, covering new generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, biomedicine and medical devices, new energy vehicles, smart grid, new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection. It is planned to form three industries with a scale of over 100 billion, including integrated circuit, life and health, and new energy. Biomedicine, software, rail transit, satellite navigation, energy conservation and environmental protection, and new materials have also formed certain first mover advantages, and their supporting role is further highlighted.

China ( Jiangsu ) Pilot Free Trade Zone Nanjing Area, located in Jiangbei New Area with an area of 39.55 square kilometers, is aimed to build itself into an internationally influential independent innovation pilot area, a modern industry demonstration area, and an important platform for opening-up and cooperation. Since its establishment, more than 190 pioneering institutional innovations have been developed, of which 11 have been promoted nationwide and 42 promoted throughout the province.
