CCPIT & WTO to Jointly Safeguard Multilateral Trade System

China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and WTO have concurred to jointly safeguard multilateral trade system amid the rising trade protectionism and unilateralism in the global economy and the escalating trade disputes within the global range.

The two sides achieved the agreement as CCPIT Vice Chairman Chen Zhou met with Yi Xiaozhun, a Deputy Director-General of WTO in Geneva on January 29.

Chen Zhou said, the world today is facing a new round of development, transformation and adjustment with the rapid changes in global governance system and international order. Meanwhile, the multilateralism and free trade are challenged and at risks. Instability and uncertainty are on the rise. China has been unswervingly committed to safeguarding a multilateral trade system with WTO at its core and based on rules and regulations. China is willing to contribute to establishing a fair, reasonable and transparent global trade order with all relevant parties.

Yi Xiaozhun said, WTO is willing to foster cooperation with CCPIT to promote dialogues and exchanges between WTO and Chinese business communities to jointly tackle challenges in the current multilateral trade system.
